My Decision, to Stop Taking Zodalex

I stopped taking Zodalex before getting my 3rd injection, You can read about my initial experience in my other blogs: Zodalex & Menopause, Dealing with Insomnia, Zodalex – Pain & Frustration

I decided enough was enough and I didn’t want to take that third injection.

Initially I worried about the harm I could be causing myself by not persevering with my final Zodalex injection.

I thought about what my consultant would say. Would they see me as someone who wasn’t willing to help herself? A time waster, a woman who wasn’t really struggling, she had just given up?

Then I realisied who’s living my life, me or them?

Who was the one that was an emotional wreck, barely sleeping, overheating and completely falling apart? Me.

I decided that I know me best. And, after the lack of guidance and support throughout the whole situation, I just wasn’t going to put myself through it anymore!

After Stopping Zodalex

It took a few weeks for my body to return to its ‘normal’ state.

And YES, I had a period from hell in December! But, I know my pattern, signs and symptoms and that’s ok. At least I knew there was going to be an end to my cycle, unlike the fear I had built during the couple of months on zoladex.

The Consultation

So what happens now?

Well, after a brief consultation on the phone,  I will be scanned in March. Following that I’ll be seen in the clinic for ANOTHER conversation about my hysterectomy, along with my ovaries being removed.

What Has My Zodalex Experience given me?

It has given me an insight into how I will be without my ovaries and without HRT. And that, is not how I intend to live my life.

So I have educated myself through reading and podcasts to learn and understand what is available out there.

It’s also given me the confidence to speak up for myself when it comes to medical professionals. To be assertive in my conversations with them.

I stopped Taking Zodalex – It was the right decision for ME!

We all experience our cycles and menopause differently but none of us should be made to feel we don’t matter.

As a woman our bodies do incredible things and go through such a huge range of changes each month.

I found this podcast extremely useful Surviving Menopause with Dr Louise Newson  and wanted to share it with you.

Please remember you are not alone. I understand it feels this way at times. But, the more we speak up and share our own experiences, together we can raise awareness and support one another.
